WordPartners’ Board of Directors Announces David Sunday as Its Third President

WordPartners

January 03, 2022

The board of directors is pleased to announce that it has named David Sunday as the third president of WordPartners.

The Lord has given WordPartners a focused vision and ministry: to train pastors in handling and preaching the Word of God so that the Word might flow powerfully through every church to every nation. David Sunday embodies the commitment to each of these things. He is deeply passionate and excited to reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ, particularly through training pastors in expository principles so that their teaching is more faithful and fruitful.

“We see a tenderness to the Spirit of God. We see a willingness to enter into hardship for the sake of the gospel,” shares board member, Christy Moore. “For this and more, we are grateful beyond words to partner with David Sunday as the next president of WordPartners and trust together that the Lord has great things ahead.”

David joins WordPartners having served as lead pastor of New Covenant Bible Church (St. Charles, Illinois) since 2010. He comes to WordPartners with a wide range of global ministry experiences in the Philippines, Morocco, Spain, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, England, Uganda, Turkey, Jordan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Honduras. These experiences have included three trips with WordPartners to help train pastors in Poltava and Kyiv, Ukraine.

He is married to Kate and has three adult children, a daughter-in-law, and one grandchild. He enjoys running and biking along the Fox River Trail, reading literature and biographies, and eating good meals with lots of laughter among friends.

David holds a B.A. from Moody Bible Institute, an M.A. from Wheaton College, an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and is a D.Min. candidate at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

“I resonate with WordPartners’ longing to see God’s Word flowing powerfully through every church to every nation,” reflects David. “I love how the ministry is reproducible and is multiplying through global partners who equip pastors in their regions to teach God’s Word with God’s heart. God is seeking shepherds after his own heart (Jer. 3:15), who not only can convey the doctrinal truth of God’s Word but can also demonstrate the mercy and compassion of God’s heart toward those who take refuge in him.”

David Sunday’s appointment concludes a thorough search by the board of directors. “I have seen his passion to build on the strong, solid foundation WordPartners has laid over the years,” says board member, Jeff Lampos. “Adding to his deep familiarity with WordPartners, David will bring an outsider’s fresh perspective and vision that will preserve our ministry and grow and expand it in directions that we have not yet considered.”

David will begin serving full time as WordPartners’ president beginning March 1, 2022. At that time, he will continue serving as a volunteer elder and teaching pastor at New Covenant Bible Church.
