Get to Know a WordPartner – Harold Haamumba

Harold Haamumba is a training partner and the national coordinator for WordPartners training in Zambia and in Malawi. He works closely with WordPartners’ regional director for Africa, Jeff Gage.

Q: What do you enjoy about your work with WordPartners?

A: The opportunity to train others, watching them be transformed by God’s Word. 

 

Q: How did you get connected with WordPartners?

A: I was connected though Ada Bible Church [in Western Michigan] when I was working with CURE, which partners with WordPartners.

 

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I am married to Namangolwa and have four children.

 

Q: What do you love to do with your family?

A: Traveling and seeing new places. 

 

Q: What’s something interesting about you that we wouldn’t know unless we knew to ask?

A: I am an identical twin and also have twins (a boy and girl).

 

Q: What’s your favorite book of the Bible, and why?

A: Habakkuk, because of my humble background and because I have worked with people with disabilities, thus always asking why God allows suffering.

 

Q: If you could be the assistant of any person for a year (besides someone from the Bible), who would it be?

A: Jeff [Gage, WordPartners’ regional director for Africa]

 

Q: What three adjectives would your family use to describe you?

A: Funny, handworking, and loving. 

 

Q: What are three things on your bucket list (things you would love to do or places you would like to go sometime during your lifetime)?

A: Seeing all Southern African countries become training partners, thus having a Southern African region like Eastern Africa; visiting the West Coast of the USA; and growing our developmental NGO.

 

Q: What’s your favorite kind of food?

A: Mashed potatoes and steak.

 

Q: What do you think is the most interesting thing about the place you live? 

A: By the rivers of Zambezi there are lots of fish and great quiet places of reflection.

 

Q: If you could have any view from your back porch, what would it be?

A: The rivers.

 

Q: What has been a rewarding moment in your work with WordPartners?

A: Seeing the transformational power of the Word lived and proclaimed.

 

Q: What is a change you have seen in your life as a result of your experience with WordPartners? 

A: I am preaching the Word of God with the same purpose/mind with which God intended it.
