David Sunday

President

After thirty years of pastoral ministry in Chicagoland, David is excited to lead WordPartners in its mission to train pastors to teach God’s Word with God’s heart. He resonates deeply with the vision to see God’s Word flowing powerfully through every church to every nation.

David and his wife, Kate, met in high school in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They delight in their three adult children and their spouses and their granddaughter. Having walked through her two battles with cancer, partnership with Kate is a treasure David cherishes. They have learned to depend on God’s delight in doing His people good with all His heart and all His soul (Jeremiah 32:40-41), and they are eager to share the goodness God has showered on them with WordPartners’ teams around the world.

David received a B.A. in International Ministries from Moody Bible Institute, an M.A. in Historical Theology from Wheaton College, and an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He completed a D.Min. in Preaching from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 2022. Having served as the founding lead pastor of New Covenant Bible Church in Saint Charles, Illinois, for twelve years, David continues to serve part time as the church’s teaching pastor and an elder.

Worldwide travel is one of David’s passions, but as lifelong Midwesterners, Kate and David most enjoy spending time along the shores of Lake Michigan and in Door County. The books of the Bible that have shaped his faith the most are Psalms, Isaiah, the four Gospels, and Romans. Cultivating the imagination through literature, running and biking along the Fox Valley Trail (especially in the fall!), and sharing relaxed meals with friends and family are his idea of a perfect day.
