Through a patient and interactive training process, one pastor becomes two. Two become four. Over time, hundreds and even thousands of pastors are trained to preach Christ-centered, expositional sermons in some of the hardest-to-reach places on earth.
Our strategy to multiply faithful preachers begins with prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit. Daily, we lift up trainers, pastors, and workshops to our Father, asking him to work powerfully through our training. Only God can bring about lasting transformation in the hearts, lives, and ministries of the pastors we train and the people they shepherd. As we pray, we diligently labor to implement a multi-year equipping strategy, trusting God to produce lasting fruit through his Word.
One country where we clearly see the long-term impact of this strategy is Ethiopia. Several years ago, a church-planting network asked our Ethiopian partner, Eshete, to train 1,500 church planters. He wisely said, “No. But select fifteen pastors, and I’ll train them.” He trained those fifteen men how to handle God’s Word faithfully and commissioned each to train ten more. Within a few years, there were 150 trained church planters. Each of those trained ten others. And over the course of about six years, all 1,500 church planters were equipped through relational, highly interactive workshops.
That same pattern of multiplication is unfolding in many other places around the world. Across the African continent, networks of Training Partners are equipping pastors in hostile environments where our staff could never travel. In Central Asia, local pastors who have completed our Core Training are now preparing to lead workshops throughout a growing number of -stan countries. And in Nicaragua, partners from Costa Rica are training on an island where U.S. trainers cannot go.

Each story is different, but the pattern is the same: as faithful pastors are trained to equip others, the gospel spreads. Churches are strengthened. And the Word of God continues to bear fruit in every place it is preached.
